OTHER LIVES

Other Lives isn’t a band that plays music. They are architects of soundscape. That’s the only way to describe their latest album, Tamer Animals.  I play the song, For 12, in my Flow classes fairly often lately and those of you regulars will recognize it’s haunting, dream-like quality.

Sometimes music can be a distraction to practice- however the sounds and movement created in For 12 lend themselves to becoming an avenue for deeper presence and free flow in my asana.

Now, that’s a whole lotta woo-woo that essentially means, this song is dreamy and you should listen to it- on the mat or off. Check out the songs  For 12, Tamer Animals (live), and Dustbowl III

There are  only a few more slots open for my  3 hour comprehensive yoga workshop, HANDS~HEART~FEET tomorrow, Sunday, June 12th,  1-4pm at the Savannah Yoga Center. We’ll focus on 6 different yogic methods that can help us create the space to be present and to cultivate the inquisitiveness to our internal experience that is required for walking deeper on our path.

This workshop is for anyone interested in not only honing their physical practice, but also in practicing techniques that give us the foundation to live our yoga off the mat as well.

If you’ve already registered, please bring water, your yoga mat if you have one and any props that you use regularly. We will have mats and props for those who don’t have their own.

Register in person at 1319 Bull St. Savannah, GA,  online at savannahyoga.com or by phone: 912.232.2994

I’m back from my work out west at the Best Friend’s Animal Sanctuary and my walkabout in California. Initially, I thought that I’d document my journeys on the Blog. I know that’s what our culture does now- every thought, experience and photo is uploaded into the virtual world for all to devour. Simply put, I didn’t want to do that.

As much as part of me felt like I should be letting everyone know what I was up to,  a bigger part of me knew that these experiences were for me to have-without the distraction of trying to quantify or qualify through words or photos. I am still processing and integrating all of it and probably will be for a while to come.

It’s been an interesting and expansive few years for me and in particular an interesting and profound last few months. Healing from my bicycle incident was the culmination of many years of uncovering blocks and walls within myself to begin to truly live openly and expansively in each moment. That is the work. That is the pratice. That is yoga.

I hope to see you in one of my classes soon so that I may share with you, in some small way, what I am learning to live each day.

Keep posted to the blog. Good things to come. Until then, I offer you much love and deep gratitude for the love and kindness you have shown me in so many ways.

I am subbing for the 5:45-7pm Sunday, 11.29.09,  Hot Flow All Levels Class at the Savannah Yoga Center.  See you there for some HOT Yoga after the Holiday! Bring water and a towel!

I will be out of town for the next couple of days enjoying some time down at the Hostel in the Forest in Brunswick, GA.

A little respite from cell phones, laptops and such. I will not be teaching my Saturday 11 am class at the Savannah Yoga Center, but the class will be taught by the lovely Amanda Westerfield! I’ll be back to teach my Sunday night 7:15pm Level 2 class as usual.

If you haven’t been to the Hostel in the Forest yet, check it out soon. It really is a gem of a place. Time to be still, to be in nature, to just BE, is sorely needed in our hectic daily lives. Places like the Hostel in the Forest help you remember who you are beyond the things you do or have.
