 Laughter Yoga Workshop

at Spacious Heart Yoga

Join me, Saturday, December 12th 1-3:30pm, at Spacious Heart Yoga in downtown Goshen, IN, for the joyful practice of Laughter Yoga. Combining mindful pranayama (breathing techniques) with laughter, students will learn to practice and cultivate space to consciously bring joyfulness, fun and laughter back into their lives.

Just as we must regularly put into practice the skills we use for our jobs, the sports we engage in, the musical instruments we play, the asana we practice on our yoga mats, so to must we consciously practice and create space for the powerful healing that laughter and joy provide us.

During this workshop we will watch the short documentary, Laughology and we will practice movements & breathing techniques combined with conscious laughter. No experience with yoga or laughter necessary.

Please bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move around in. You may also choose to bring a light snack, if you like. You can bring your own mat if you choose or use one of ours and there will be chairs for those who would like them.

The family has been assembled. The food has been consumed. You’ve had your fill of socializing and your fill of stuffing… Now it’s time to get on the mat and burn off some of the gluttony, warm the body up from the cold and come back to center. So join me the day after at Spacious Heart Yoga, 11am on Friday 11.28.14 for a heated yoga class.

*The practice will be vigorous and is best suited for those who have a strong practice and solid understanding of foundational poses. We will be flowing from pose to pose (vinyasa) as well as slowing things down to hold poses as well. The room will be heated to 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bring a towel (you will probably sweat), water and your own mat if you have one. Happy Thanksgiving. See you on the mat!

Thanks and Giving Yoga Class at Spacious Heart Yoga, Goshen IN, 9-10am on Thursday, November 27th, 2014. 

Join Yoga Teacher Sheri Bontrager to give thanks and share the mindfulness of practice Thanksgiving morning. The class is free but we ask that you bring a donation of canned food or monetary donation that will go to a local charity. To submit your choice of charity organization, stop by the studio and enter the name of the charity.

With all the hoopla of the Holiday’s it’s a perfect way to keep centered and mindful. So put the turkey in the oven and get yourself down to Spacious Heart Yoga for class!

Join us for a night of music and mantras with Sacred Waters Kirtan at Sacred Waters 16990 Douglas Rd, Mishawaka, IN.  Friday night, October 31, 2014 at 7pm. Nearly all the events and classes at Sacred Waters are donation based. Offer what you can and join the community this wonderful event.

Recently, Sacred Waters Kirtan was featured at the 150th anniversary celebration of Vivekananda by the Vedanta Society and had the honor of leading a large crowd of swamis, nuns and other participants from around the world in celebratory song. They have played venues as diverse as the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Notre Dame, Indiana. For more news and info check out yogachant.org

Monthly Meditation is Saturday October 25th, 10:30am-12:30 and will be held at Pathways Retreat in Goshen, Indiana. With 14 acres of trails and two labyrinths, we’ll be practice both a free style walking meditation as well as a labyrinth walk.

We won’t be meeting at Spacious Heart in Goshen. We’ll meet directly at Pathways Retreat (309 Hackett Rd, Goshen IN) and workshop begins promptly at 10:30am. Parking is limited so carpooling is highly recommended. If you haven’t registered yet, you can register by clicking HERE

-Comfortable walking shoes
-Notebook and pen
-Portable chair if possible or yoga mat (we’ll be sitting for part of the time)
-Dress Accordingly for your comfort

6 METHODS to CULTIVATE A THOROUGH YOGA PRACTICE ON and OFF the MATSaturday – May 31, 2014 – 1-4pm

*Pranayama– breathing techniques to energize as well as soothe
*Mantras– using sound to clear and balance internal vibration
*Mudras– activating pressure points to both stimulate & calm energy centers
*Asana– physical postures to strengthen/challenge & postures to release/restore
*Meditation– stilling the body & observing the internal experience
*Yoga Nidra– guided practice of deep yogic sleep to reconnect to the deeper sense of self

This 3 hour Workshop will offer students the opportunity to integrate yogic practices to serve them ON and OFF the mat. There will be some vigorous asana and students attending should be well-versed in foundational yoga postures as well as be able to safely engage in a challenging practice for at least one hour.

In addition to asana, this workshop will include introductory level practices of Mantras, Mudras, Pranayama, Meditation and Yoga Nidra so that students may begin cultivating a more encompassing practice of mindfulness to take off the mat, into the world.
